Tucker and Nora are finally going live!

Finally! Tucker and Nora's story goes live this Friday, Dec. 19. When I first started writing Tucker, and I was still fleshing out his injuries and PTSD, I wondered how in the world I would do him justice. I gotta admit, I rewrote the first few chapters of his story maybe five times before I felt like it was right.

Under all the anger that Tucker shows to the world is still the loyal, protective youngest Harlow brother that we saw in the first four books. He just needed the right inspiration to coax it back out.

Insert Nora.

Naturally gentle and trusting, Nora was taken advantage of and manipulated by the man she thought loved her for three years. When she reaches her breaking point and takes back her autonomy, we see the backbone he was slowly crushing. Her quiet strength and gentleness are only some of the things that Tucker falls in love with. He also loves women with curves.

I should mention that Nora has a sour gummy bear addiction.

Here's a little snippet of the pub robbery that accidentally outs Nora's location to her a**hole ex. A patron recorded the whole thing and posted it on social media. This is the scene where Tucker shows his true protective side with some well-aimed dinnerware.

Nora has just walked out of the kitchen into the middle of the robbery with two piping hot plates of chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and gravy bringing the robbers attention, and the end of his gun, on her. She freezes in fear. This is from Nora's POV.

Oh, my God.

What is happening?

That gun is pointed at me. My stomach drops, and my feet become one with the floor, and all I see is the round barrel of the gun looming in front of me.

In my periphery, I see Tuck stand up, and my heart beats faster when the guy turns his gun on him. What is he doing? Did he get the guy to turn the gun on him on purpose?

The guy reads my mind. “What’re ya doin’, man?” His voice is kind of whiny, like a young guy. I don’t think he expected anyone to move.

Tuck lifts his hands in surrender and points a finger at me, letting the guy know he’s moving in my direction. The guy breathes harder, the barrel of his gun following Tuck’s every move.

I’m so scared that I don’t notice the heat from the plates soaking through the rags until Tuck stands in front of me, blocking the guy from my view to force me to look at him. He lifts one of the plates with the rag under it, setting it on the nearest table, then looks at the guy. “These plates are hot.”

“Yeah, whatever, man. Go sit down so I can get the money from the till.”

Tuck calmly smiles at him. “One more.”

Turning to me again, he’s so… composed, his eyes are locked with mine, and he winks at me. Seeing the fear on my face, he smiles reassuringly as he lifts the second plate from my hand. While keeping his voice low so just I can hear, he says, “Get down, sugar. Now.”

As soon as the plate is lifted from my hand, I drop to my knees and fold forward as Tuck spins and throws it at the guy like a frisbee, hitting him in the face. The guy goes down, screaming and holding his nose that now has gravy and mashed potatoes on it, dropping the gun.

Yep, that's right, Tucker saved her with a plate of chicken fried steak. If you want to read about how he helped her breath through a panic attack immediately after, you have to read the book.

Unbending Devotion is book five of the Harlow Springs Ranch Series. It is a stand-alone, full-length novel with no cliffhanger and a HEA. Each book in the Harlow Springs Ranch Series can be read independently, but I suggest reading them in order for the best reading experience, as they are interlinked.

Tucker’s gritty story touches on PTSD and learning he is still worthy of love. Ironically, his fierce love helps Nora reclaim her life and self-worth.

This is a romance with a side of real-life emotional rawness and the scars of war, and may not be suitable for all readers. As always, my books contain graphic content that is not appropriate for younger readers.

All my books are available FREE on Kindle Unlimited. They are also available on Amazon and in paperback.
